New Show!

We've added a show to our roster this year.  Dater House Antiques is traveling to Elkton, MD to do Cecilia Taylor's From the Farmhouse Show.  Held indoors at the fairgrounds, this one day show is Saturday, March 8 from 10-3.  It proves to be a great primitive/country show.  Held twice a year, we are very excited to be included in this year's spring show.  See you in Maryland!

Happy New Year!

2013 was our best year ever, so I can't wait to see what 2014 brings.  Thank you to all our wonderful customers!

New on Facebook:
Today's Pick

Everyday I am posting a pick of the day - a photo of an antique that isn't included on our website.  There are so many wonderful things in the shop and it's hard to showcase them all on the website, so tune in to our facebook page everyday for a featured item.

Shop Hours:

When would you like to come? We'll be open.  We are open regularly and certainly at the convenience of our customers...just give us a heads up and we'll be here.

We are actively buying to bring you new arrivals on a weekly basis.  The shop is always changing.  Stop by for a current look!

A New Page!!

We have added a new page to our website.  It's an under $20 page and is just that - everything on it is under 20 bucks and easily ships in an envelope or box.  Sometimes, it's the small things in a shop we would love to see, but are too difficult to pinpoint on a website.  This page will take care of the little things -  highlighting the "smalls" that get lost in the "shop shot" photos.  I'll give it a try - see how it received and may even add to it...An under $30 page perhaps?

Regular Buying

Leann and I are buying every week to bring you fresh merchandise both in the shop, at Bailey's on the web.  Always searching for great pieces, check back often as you never know when I'll be adding new things.

Open Year Round

Just a reminder that the shop is open year round now that we have our toasty pellet stove.  Haven't even needed to start it yet, but the pellets are ready and waiting for a cold day.  Be sure to keep us on your regular antiquing jaunts this fall and winter, as we will be open daily.  A call or email ahead is always a good idea.

Finally Settled

It has taken 3 days to settle the shop after our trip South.  It was a wonderful trip and the show was a great success.  We have rearranged the shop for a new look.  Brought back some wonderful antiques from our travels and look forward to seeing everyone this fall.  I love this time of year, and nothing is better than antiquing on a road trip.  Stop by and see us!

New Website Page!

I've just added a "Shop Shots" page.  So many times I change the look of the shop and want to share it with everyone...so I've set up a new page and whenever the shop changes, I'll add new photos.  There are so many smalls tucked into my little shop that if you see something in a photo that I haven't included as an item on one of the other pages, feel free to contact me for additional photos and information.  I'm really excited about this because I want to add something to my website regularly but just don't have the time to do a detailed item by item entry.  This way you will all know when things are changing around here.

New Arrivals~

Leann and I are recently home from the Offerings show in Marcellus, one of our favorites.  Other than our first blown tire on the Thruway, it was a successful trip.  Always good to see Antique colleagues and shop and swap.  We bought on the way out and bought at the show, so come see our new finds.  We brought home two nice small primitive cupboards and a few great primitive smalls.  New photos on several pages, so browse around the site.

A Simple Life Antique Show a Success!
1,858 Miles!!

Days of the Pioneer Antique Show held at the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee was all we had hoped for.  The trip down and back went off without a hitch.  We discovered some new shops in PA and VA, sang along to some favorite tunes and talked about Antiques the whole ride!!  We set up, met Jill Peterson and had a wonderful dinner cooked by the Museum ladies.  The show started each day with a bagpiper walking and playing to the customers as they entered the show.  We ate chuck wagon vittles - pinto beans and cornbread, plus peach cobbler and homemade peanut butter ice cream - right off the chuck wagon which was cooked over an open flame in cast iron pots!  The Antiques, setting and weather were to die for Primitive Antiques surrounded by log buildings was picture perfect.  We met so many wonderful primitive lovers from all over the country.  Even had some customers who flew in from Oregon!  They came from Florida, Kentucky, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, NY and Vermont to just name a few.  Sales were brisk and plentiful.  Leann and I toured the museum a little on Saturday before we packed up for home.  The ride home was smooth and steady, but very long.  It took a day and a half to get there and the same going home.

Show photos on Show page

Look at the show page for Days of the Pioneer Show photos.

Shop is full and ready for fall

We had saved so many items for the TN show and now they are filling the shop!  Cupboards, blanket boxes, shelving, grain bins, a zinc tub and tons of smalls - many in old paint await you this fall.  Leann just came by with some antique lighting.  Stop on by, I am attending as many home soccer games as I can, but I'm also open everyday.  Feel free to call or email to make sure.

Website Updated

Just added lots of pictures - check them out and call with any questions or inquiries.

Days of the Pioneer Show in Tennessee, Here we come!!

Wasn't sure if it was all going to fit, but after some fancy packing, we were able to fit everything except some odd shaped medium sized smalls.  Leann and I are very excited!! We have been hoarding for this show for 6 months and have acquired some of the best antiques we've ever had. The forecast is perfect, the van is gassed & the snacks packed, the kids are all set and the suitcases are ready. First stop - shopping in PA, then VA although I'm not sure where we'll put anything, it will still be fun to find some new antique shops. We'll let everyone know about our adventures.

Headed to New Hampshire for a very rare, but great New England buying opportunity.  Came home with a truck and trailer full!  Picked up several cupboards - all are in early paint and are ready to go.  Check out the furniture page for photos or stop by and see these great primitive pieces.

New Primitive Room!!

Big changes are taking place at Dater House Antiques.  I've been itching for sometime to make a big change, and this Spring was the right time to finally dig in and get busy.  I have changed my large room to completely primitives.  Out went the oriental rug, out went all Victorian and 20th century antiques and in came the primitives!  It's quite a difference and I hope you like it.  I still have a room with some oak pieces, polished country pieces and whenever I have some period formal pieces, there's still room.  However, the excitement is about the primitives.  I have been buying and selling more and more primitives as well as showing primitives at my antique shows.  It only makes sense to have more space for them in my shop.  Stop on by, I hope you like what you find.

New Arrivals

Buying, Buying, Buying.  That's been the focus lately.  Lots of buying trips including Brimfield have yielded some great finds.  Check out the website for lots of new photos of pantry boxes, stools, woodenware, tinware, furniture, breadboards, metal pieces, brooms, totes etc...  New things have arrived at Baileys, too.  We ship anywhere, so please inquire.  Always happy to send additional photos of any item.

New Website Pages:

Two new website pages have been added this spring.  I hope you like them.

New Arrivals Page

A new arrivals page has been added to the website.  When new items come into the shop, I will put them on this page with a price.  Check back often, you never know when we'll get something new in.

Internet Links Page

Also new this spring is an internet links page.  I've been wanting to do this for a long time.  Check out these other antique shops/contacts for great shops to visit in our area, or for show information.  Let me know if you'd like to see other links on this page.  It makes navigating very easy.

Up and Running!

Spring has us starting right out of the gate:  Shop is ready for Spring, 3 scheduled estate sales in the next 30 days, just finished the Schoharie show and will be gearing up for Washington County in early May.

Shop Hours:

Shop has some great stuff, be sure to check in this spring.  Better give me a call, I'm out and about a lot either working on or holding house sales.

Estate Sales:

Check the Estate sale page for dates and photos.  Several coming up, you wouldn't want to miss any!

Shows:

Leann and I had a very successful Schoharie.  Happy to visit with everyone and talk "shop," sold some great antiques, bought a few and loaded a cupboard into a new customers van right at take down.  Can't complain about that.  As usual, a great looking show.

Heading to Washington County for our next show.  Dates are on my show page.  Always a great time.  We'll see you there!

We've added a few new shows!  Leann and I will be venturing to Cooperstown in western New York for their July 1 show.  A one day whirlwind, but it will be loads of fun to meet some new customers and visit with some familiar faces.  Looking forward to it.

Then, in September, Leann and I are really venturing far and have signed up for the Days of the Pioneer Show in Norris, Tennessee!!!  Hosted by Jill Peterson and A Simple Life Magazine, we've decided we can't NOT be a part of this exciting event.  Held in the meadow of the museum, it promises to have fantastic antiques, mountain music, old time artisans and local fare.  Plan a trip - call me for details.

Open House:

Save the date!
Saturday & Sunday,
June 2 - 3, 10 - 4.

Winter update:

The strangest winter I ever remember - NO snow!! None since October.  It should make for a short winter anyway.

Buying, Buying

Leann and I have been traveling every Friday, mostly to local antique shops.  We like to visit old friends, make some new acquaintances and see what goodies are out there.  It's a great way for me to know where to send my customers when they don't find that special antique in my shop.  Lunch out and a day of antiquing - what a great way to spend a day in the cold winter months!

Shenendehowa Antique Show

A great show!  Lots of customers, dry sunny day, great antiques.  It was a fun successful day.  We're the first booth in the door, if you missed us, put it on your schedule for next year.  Always Superbowl Sunday.

Winter hours:  Open by chance or appointment.  Always happy to open my doors - if you don't mind the cold - especially for anyone traveling a distance, just call.  You can always see my selection at Baileys too.

Gearing up for Schoharie Excited to participate in this show since they had to cancel the Fall show due to the flooding.  One of my favorite shows, always a feast for the eyes.  Check my show page for dates.

Buying, Buying, Buying!

We've held more estate sales this year than ever and since finishing the last one, buying has been the agenda.  Check out all of my website pages for new photos of furniture, smalls, accessories, lighting, etc...  I'm stocked for Christmas and my winter shows and am very pleased with my inventory.

Baileys is stocked:

I've just returned from filling my booth at Antiques at Baileys.  A van load of small furniture & primitive and country smalls was just taken over.  Be sure to stop in for the best selection.

Shows and Sales:

My shows and estate sales have been very successful this year.  Offerings was loads of fun with great buying and selling.  Can't wait for the next one.  Just wrapped up St. Sophia's in Albany with a nice amount of sales.  The estate sales have been busier than ever with Leann and myself holding the most we've ever held in a single year.  The word must be getting out!  We enjoy holding them and seeing all of our estate sale customers.  I've updated my show page with a couple of winter dates, be sure to mark your calendar.

"Summer Kitchen" not feeling like summer!

My shop is open - but wear your coat.  The shop looks great, is filled with great stuff, but is very chilly this time of year.  I will remain open as long as the weather isn't ridiculously frigid and the driveway isn't too slippery, and I'm always open by chance or appointment.  Buying and selling never stops all winter and you can certainly always see new things at Baileys.

Thank you to all of our customers
for a great year &
 Merry Christmas to all &
Happy New Year!!

Offerings Show:

A success!  Leann and I traveled to Marcellus, NY for our 2nd Offerings show.  A new venue and location this spring was a welcome  improvement.  We are happy to be included in this primitive/country show and see great things in its future.

A great looking show, how wonderful to have so many primitive/country dealers in one room.  This show is a little kept secret and when the secret gets out - this show will take off.  A great buying opportunity, it's sure to grow in the future.

The fall date has been set!!  Put October 15 on your calendar.  Don't miss this one.

Unpacked with new arrivals in the shop and at Baileys.  We hoarded for the primitive show, but now have moved our new items into the shop and Bailey's.  Make a trip to either before it's carted off to our next venue - Walker Homestead.

     Walker Homestead:

We are gearing up for the next show - traveling to MA this time for our first venture at the Walker Homestead primitive/country show.  We are very excited about this show, how can you not have fun with a chuck wagon, blue grass band and two fields of antiques??  A winning combination.  We hope to see some familiar faces.  Check out our show page for all the details.

May 8, 2011

Washington County Antique show was a great success. We did everything we set out to do. We sold, we bought, we cleaned out, we bought, we networked, we bought, we had a great time, we bought. We are hoarding a few choice things for our upcoming primitive show: Offerings. Information on the show page.

April 18, 2011

Open late!  It can be frustrating to make it to a shop by closing time.  I've been staying open until 6pm or even a little later, so feel free to stop by on your way home from work.

April 8, 2011

Very pleased to announced that we have been accepted to exhibit at the "Simple Treasures from the Past Antiques and Primitive Goods Show" at Walker Homestead in Brookfield, MA.

The one day show takes place June 18.

This show will take the place of Round Lake on our show schedule.

We are eager to try something new and are happy to join the other country/primitive dealers at this most respected show.

New website!!!!

This is the 3rd website I've designed and this time I've simplified things by maintaining the same domain name, host and design software company WITH 24 hour assistance.  The idea is to regularly update it, add photos, etc...  It's the 21st century and as much as I prefer the 18th and 19th, it's necessary in today's world.  So let me know what you think, it's a work in progress, but I'd love to hear comments, suggestions etc...  It's my New Years resolution to keep it updated - so far so good.

Open for the Season!!

It was a cold spring and tapping the creative juices to arrange my shop wasn't easy this year, but I did it and I'm happy to be open.  Call for hours.  If I'm home, I'm open. Shop is still a little cool, but the warm weather is on the way.

Antiques at Baileys

Winter was a busy season at Baileys with a lot of good merchandise selling quickly. Good items don't hang around long, so check frequently for our new arrivals.  We are constantly looking for good early primitives and country for Baileys.

Speaking of Baileys, check out my sister's booth right next to mine upstairs.  She's got some great stuff, great prices, a good eye and tons of enthusiasm.

Estate Sales

Leann and I are busy working on the next sale coming up April 15 & 16 in Castleton. Check the Times Union, Craigslist and this website for the listing and photos.

Spring Shows

We're very excited about our spring shows, as we're shaking things up a bit.  We are signed up for the Washington County Flea Market and Antique Show April 30, May 1 & 2. Look for us in pole barn 2.  We plan to bring a nice assortment with a lot of on-sale items!

Also new this year:  We are traveling to display at the Offerings show in Marcellus, New York.  Strictly a primitive/country show, it's growing so quickly, the promoter has moved the venue to a larger soccer complex space and added additional choice dealers. This show is worth a trip from anywhere and a wonderful buying experience - a real treat for the primitive senses.

Check out our Show page for details.

Happy Antiquing!
